Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
YouTube Language Filter is a Chrome extension developed by Triple Up ("we", "us", "our"). A Chrome extension that filters YouTube comments by language on Watch and Shorts pages, showing only comments in your chosen languages and hiding or collapsing the rest, with all language detection performed locally in the browser. You can reach us at tripleup.dev@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
YouTube Language Filter does not collect, store, or transmit any personal information. All of its functionality runs locally within your browser.
3. How your data is stored
User settings (enabled flag, allowed language codes, display mode, and the hide-unknown option) are stored locally on the user's device via chrome.storage.local. Comment text is read from the YouTube page DOM and analyzed in memory only; it is never persisted or transmitted. A short-lived in-memory cache (keyed by the first 100 characters of each comment) holds detection results during a session and is discarded when the page is closed or rescanned. No data is sent to any external server.
No data is sent to Triple Up or to any external server.
4. Third parties & advertising
YouTube Language Filter does not use third-party analytics, tracking, or advertising, and does not sell or share your data with third parties.
5. Browser permissions
YouTube Language Filter requests only the permissions it needs:
storage— To save the user's filter settings (enabled state, allowed languages, display mode, hide-unknown option) locally on the device using chrome.storage.local.activeTab— To interact with the currently active YouTube tab when the user opens the popup and applies settings or triggers a rescan.scripting— To inject the content script and its stylesheet into the active YouTube tab on demand (for example, when the page loaded before the extension or after a reload), so filtering can run without requiring a manual page refresh.host_permissions: https://www.youtube.com/*— To run the content script on YouTube pages so it can read comment text from the page DOM and apply hide/collapse styling. Access is limited to youtube.com only.
6. Children's privacy
YouTube Language Filter is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any material change will be posted on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
